As a Travel Designer with over 25 years in the tour industry, it is very important to know and experience the travel products I am selling to my clients when they call asking for my services with travel planning. Before my travel career began, I was an employee for 30 years with Ford Motor Company, which many people know as an automotive manufacturer, and being an employee we could book travel through the Ford's travel agency known as FERA. We had could book great travel deals!! and that's when I got the travel bug. Then the company offered employees to further their education with no restrictions on the type of courses you could enroll in and that's when I choose to use my educational benefits and attend Travel Educational Institute in Southfield, MI. After graduation I wanted to expand my travel knowledge and I joined several Travel Associations that supports a network of like-minded travel professionals. I later became the event planner for an association that wanted to plan their conference in Trinidad & Tobago, which is an amazing 2-n-1 destination. This began my love for group travel. A few years later my partner and I submitted a proposal-bid to a housing association looking to plan their conference, we flew to Las Vegas and gave our presentation and was awarded the bid for the conference that was held aboard Carnival Destiny for 325 participants. My next group planning was for another travel association conference that was held in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After this I was hooked on groups!!! Next I combined my love for group planning with my love for shopping. So I signed up for a bus shopping tour with an area a resale consignment store. Once I got on the bus headed to these stores, a light bulb went off and I got off the bus and went home and created and started a business called Savvy Ladies Resale Tours. I began to plan shopping tours for ladies traveling to Kentucky (some of the clothes in one of the stores was from Sue Ellen of Dallas) wow what a find!!! we visited Church Hill Downs (Kentucky Derby) had lunch then the ladies did an activity for making their own Derby Hat (awesome) then went to Alabama to visit Unclaimed Baggage store, next stop Tennessee and shop at the store where Dolly Pardon shops and donates clothes. Our next trip was to Chicago and at the time Oprah was closing her studio and store there, a Great Bargain find! Now it was time take my group shopping tours to another level. After talking with my friends that were flight attendants I was made aware of two big shopping events in Paris!! And in June 2015 Savvy Ladies Resale Tours went to shop in Paris. I did some research and found the largest resale store in the world was in Paris, after riding 3 different trains and walking 6 blocks, I walked into the largest resale store in the world in Paris, France. While there I had to visit Disneyland Paris, and after 3 train rides the doors opened and I was at Disneyland Paris!!! More amazing shopping can be found in the souks of Marrakech in Morocco. Now 2020 came in and hit the travel industry HARD!!!! All those that are part of the travel industry had to learn how to sell travel products again with compassion and assurance for clients and future travelers. I am very thankful to the "Almighty" that I have another blessing to move forward with a "Self Care Mental Well-Being Attitude" and this is why I created Brookside Escapes. Traveling to Costa Rica you will find luxurious wellness retreats, resorts in the rainforests, mountain top resort for families, groups. I was just aboard Royal Caribbean Enchantment and I learned that having spa services aboard a ship is more effective than land. Or you can visit Kingston, Jamaica and relax where Beyonce" does. By adapting a "Self Care" mind-set you can be ready for what come your way.
